Since its establishment in 1670, Weingut Ansgar Clüsserath in Trittenheim on the Mosel has remained under family ownership and management. Presently, Eva Clüsserath-Wittmann is continuing the family legacy established by her father, Ansgar. Together, they oversee the operations of the estate. Following the completion of her oenology studies at the viticultural school in Geisenheim/Rheingau in 2001, she worked concurrently at the estate and at the Pfalz regional branch of the VDP (Prädikat Wine Estates) before ultimately focusing all her efforts on the Trittenheim estate.
As a member of Germany’s emerging generation of wine producers dedicated to both traditional, environmentally friendly viticultural practices and innovative methods, Eva Clüsserath-Wittmann, like her husband Philip Wittmann of Weingut Wittmann in Westhofen/Rheinhessen, strives to showcase the distinctive characteristics of the Mosel’s unique cultural landscape. Through her individual approach in both vineyard work and winemaking, she skillfully captures the essence of the region’s soils and steep vineyard sites, crafting wines that exude finesse and elegance.
