ABOUT RIEDEL:
Riedel – The Wine Glass Company is a 300-year-old family-owned business renowned for its grape varietal-specific glassware. Founded in 1756, Riedel was the first to recognize that a glass’s shape can dramatically influence the taste and aroma of wine. Since pioneering varietal-specific stemware in 1958, Riedel has become the preferred brand for wine connoisseurs, hospitality professionals, and consumers around the globe. Each “Wine Instrument” is the result of extensive research, designed to enhance a wine’s aroma, taste, texture, and finish—turning every sip into a celebration.
Now in its 11th generation under the leadership of Georg J. Riedel and Maximilian J. Riedel, the company produces premium crystal glassware that is used by top-rated wineries and restaurants worldwide. Riedel offers collections for every lifestyle and budget, whether for critical wine evaluation, a casual picnic, or a gourmet dinner—ensuring there is a perfect glass for every wine lover.
ABOUT Sommeliers Black Tie:
In 2008, the Sommeliers Black Tie collection was introduced to celebrate the 50th anniversary of RIEDEL’s iconic Sommeliers Burgundy Grand Cru Glass, designed by the 9th generation Claus Riedel. The RIEDEL Grand Sommeliers Wine Glass Collection debuted in 1958 when the Burgundy Grand Cru glass (or “Pokal Hoch”) was first showcased at the World Exhibition in Brussels. It immediately earned a “Grand Prix” Award for its innovative and striking design, and soon after, New York’s Museum of Modern Art selected it for their permanent collection as a notable example of design excellence.
The Sommeliers Black Tie anniversary collection, rooted in the original timeless shapes, features classic and elegant glasses. The red wine glasses are designed with a tall black stem and a clear base, while the white wine glasses feature a black base with a tall clear stem.
Sommeliers Black Tie is handmade in crystal glass.
