Domaine Alain Cailbourdin is a benchmark estate in the Loire Valley, nestled in the heart of Pouilly-Fumé, where it has become renowned for crafting exceptionally pure and terroir-driven Sauvignon Blanc. Founded in the early 1980s by Alain Cailbourdin, the domaine began with a modest 2 hectares and has since grown to encompass around 20 hectares of prime vineyard sites, including the prestigious Coteau de Saint Andelain, known for its Kimmeridgian marl and flint-rich soils.
Alain, and now his son Loïc Cailbourdin, have built a reputation for meticulous vineyard work and a philosophy rooted in minimal intervention, allowing the unique soils and microclimates of Pouilly-Fumé to shine through in the wines. Farming is done with great care for the environment, and harvests are typically done by hand to ensure only the best fruit is selected.
In the cellar, vinification is precise and gentle, with fermentation and aging often done in stainless steel to preserve the wine’s vibrant aromatics, crisp acidity, and flinty minerality—hallmarks of the appellation. The resulting wines are elegant, structured, and age-worthy, consistently praised for their clarity, finesse, and sense of place.
Domaine Alain Cailbourdin represents a classic yet thoughtful expression of Pouilly-Fumé, blending tradition with a quiet, confident precision that speaks to decades of experience and deep respect for the land.
