ABOUT Black Series Collector’s Edition:
The Black Series Collector’s Edition is crafted from black crystal glass, with the addition of cobalt and manganese giving it its dark hue. This type of glass cools much faster than transparent glass, presenting a greater challenge for the glassmakers. The process is further complicated by the red glass string that is overlaid with clear glass on the Black Series Collector’s Edition. While the Black Series can certainly be used as a drinking glass, it is primarily appreciated as a stunning design piece, showcasing the unique styling and proportions of the Sommeliers series.
The original Sommeliers series consists of several distinct shapes, each designed to enhance the characteristics of different wines based on their age and qualities. The current series was refined under the guidance of Georg J. Riedel, with new glass shapes being developed in workshops. Renowned wine experts like Robert Parker, and iconic winemakers such as Gaja, Guigal, and Robert Mondavi, contributed their expertise to perfect the RIEDEL glass shapes. Over time, these Sommeliers shapes have become a benchmark in the industry, widely imitated by many other glass manufacturers.
